About the Six Sojourns category

Six Sojourns is a reimagined version of Ryan Laukat’s third published design, Eight-Minute Empire. This short, yet strategic, area control game challenges players with tough decisions, inventive strategies, and high player interaction.

The objective of Six Sojourns is to expand your family and increase their influence. On each turn, players choose one of five cards on display. Each card provides actions that allow players to build houses, acquire ships, move their pieces, and gain new family members.

The cards also feature special abilities and sets of icons that reflect your family’s expertise in various trades, such as cooking, carpentry, sewing, shoemaking, art, blacksmithing, and jewelry. Throughout the game, you will select just nine cards, creating meaningful decisions each turn as you decide whether to focus on trades, abilities, or expanding your reach on the map.

Compared to Eight-Minute Empire, Six Sojourns offers a larger board and more cards, along with a host of exciting new features. For example, players can now move groups of people at once, introducing a greater level of dynamism to the game. Ships can be built to traverse the seas, connecting different regions. Players can even pay to use other players’ ships to travel across the water. Sea spaces now offer additional rewards, such as majority control and valuable goods.

Houses, which replace cities from the original game, are now worth two control points, with the added limitation that only one house can be built in each space.

Additionally, each sojourn introduces new cards and rules, allowing players to tailor their experience or play through the sojourns in sequence, creating a fresh and engaging experience every time.
